As we reported earlier this week, business, bands and clubs are joining forces to fortify the SXSW Cares fund established to provide aid to victims of the March 13 South by Southwest crash on Red River Street with the SXSW Cares Big Benefit. The event takes place over a nine-day period from April 12-20 and thanks to the tireless efforts of event coordinator Jennifer Houlihan, director of Austin Music People and the amazing generosity and community spirit of the Austin music scene it continues to grow. New events include three shows at Emo’s next weekend Eisley on Thursday, April 17, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk on Friday, April 18 and the Sounds with Blondfire and Ghost Beack on Saturday, April 19. Also new to the list is a show at the Belmont this Friday (April 11) with The Bare Feat and O Antonio + His Imaginary Friends. Also worth noting, the Elvis tribute show at Hotel Vegas on Sunday will have a pompadour station and photo booth so if you’ve ever wanted to be coiffed like the King you know what’s up.
