RVRB Records, the official storefront for the Reverb Appreciation Society, quietly opened its doors on 2404 E. Seventh St. last Tuesday but the shop has a grand opening celebration on tap to coincide with Record Store Day on Saturday. The Reverb Appreciation Society is the home label to over a dozen fuzz-heavy artists including Austin’s Christian Bland & the Revelators and Holy Wave and Houston’s Indian Jewelry. The society is also responsible for programming the annual Austin Psych Fest which is gearing up for its seventh year on May 2-4. The festival headquarters moved to the record store last week.

The shop, which has a small outdoor stage and patio, will open at noon on Saturday and music will start at 4 p.m. Christian Bland & the Revelators, Chris Catalena and the Native Americans and Alex Maas of the Black Angels are all scheduled to play.

In addition to a wide selection of vinyl the store will feature an ecclectic variety of products that mirrors the vendor market at Austin Psych Fest. Vintage and original clothing and jewelry, succulent arrangements and guitars, amps and pedals will all be up for sale. For Record Store Day the shop will letting Psych Fest 3-day pass purchasers take home any one record in the store that’s under $20 for free. Donations for the SXSW Cares fund set up to provide assistance to victims of the Red River crash will be collected throughout the day.
