C3 Presents, the Austin-based company that produces the Austin City Limits Music Festival, announced this morning that three-day passes for weekend one of ACL Festival have sold out. Three-day passes for the second weekend of the festival, October 10-12 are still available. This year’s ACL Fest headliners are Eminem, Pearl Jam, Outkast, Skrillex, Beck and Calvin Harris. New Zealand’s pop sensation Lorde is scheduled to appear on the second weekend of the festival only, which led some to speculate weekend two might be the hotter ticket this year.

ACL Fest went to a two weekend format for the first time in 2013. Last year, tickets for weekend one sold out fairly rapidly while weekend two ticket sales were sluggish.

The second weekend of ACL Fest did sell out last year, but with scalper’s overestimating demand, plenty of passes were floating around on the secondary market for well below face value.

We were inspired to do “The Cheap Tix Challenge” on weekend two of the 2013 fest, finding fest-goers who managed to haggle their way in for $150 or less. Of course, those bargain hunters were probably out of luck when Sunday’s performances were cancelled due to flooding. That shady dude on the corner probably couldn’t process a partial refund.
