‘From Austin With Love’ Benefit Relief Benefit Concert & Auction at the Backyard. Though it’s separate from the SXSWcares series of shows that raised money for victims of the vehicular tragedy on Red River Street during SXSW, this event has a similar aim, with stated goal to “give all profit proceeds to the injured persons and deceased (family) as quickly as possible.” The dozen or so performers include the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Monte Montgomery, Marcia Ball, Guy Forsyth, Vallejo, Del Castillo and Lavelle White. La Condesa Cinco de Mayo block party. Austin’s Second Street District is swept up in a celebration of Mexican culture as this Univision-sponsored event brings an impressive roster of Latin musical acts playing Tejano, mariachi, cumbia, rock and more. Austin acts Este Vato, Como Las Movies, El Tule and the award-winning Mariachi Relampgo are all scheduled to perform as are San Antonio acts Celsius and Bombasta. Food and drink will be available along with a variety of family friendly activities. 1 to 9 p.m. Second Street between San Antonio and Guadalupe. Margaret Moser’s Retirement Party at the Continental Club. After more than 30 years (give or take a brief Hawaii detour) with the Austin Chronicle, music writer Margaret Moser is leaving the weekly paper, but not without an all-day salute featuring some of the city’s top musical talents. Performers include Churchwood, Standing Waves, Eve & the Exiles, the Hickoids, the Wagoneers, Painted Redstarts, Paul Oscher, Jon Dee Graham, Rosie Flores and the Bluebonnets.
