Parquet Courts, Radioactivity, Beth Israel at Red 7. Chaos in Tejas founder Timmy Hefner broke hundreds of crusty punks’ hearts after last year’s event when he declared the annual celebration of grungy underground noise defunct (sort of). Never fear mosh pit fanatics, Chaos in Tejas is back (sort of). Hefner has pulled together a scaled-back event: Chaos in Tejas presents a Weekend in Austin. Five nights of shows kick off at Red 7 on Wednesday with a bill of black metal bands from Russia, Chile and Mexico, but this Thursday show with SXSW 2013 faves, stoner punks Parquet Courts, might have the broadest appeal. The mini-fest continues at Red 7 on Friday then moves to Hotel Vegas Saturday and the North Door on Sunday. $11-$13. 9 p.m. 611 E. Seventh St. See the event’s Facebook page for more details. — D.S.S.
