Roky Erickson and Shiva’s Headband Experience at Bullock Texas State History Museum. The first installment of the Bullock’s midsummer “Music Under the Star” series in the Lone Star Plaza is a double bill of late-’60s Austin psychedelia pioneers that dovetails perfectly with “The 1968 Exhibit,” which opened last month and runs through Sept. 1. Erickson has become a living legend in the decades since he took the city by storm with the 13th Floor Elevators, but Shiva’s Headband were equally prominent at the time and helped to put Austin music on the national map before the outlaw country era dawned. The museum also is debuting “When Austin Got Weird,” an exhibit of music posters from Austin artists in the rotunda that complements “The 1968 Exhibit.”Admission is free to both the music (which runs 6-9 p.m.) and the exhibit, with free parking in the museum garage after 6 p.m. 1800 N. Congress Ave. thestoryoftexas.com. — P.B.
