[UPDATE: Blues on the Green with Shinyribs and Tameca Jones has been postponed until Aug. 13 because of wet grounds.]

Austin Sound and Cinema at the Long Center and Blues on the Green at Zilker Park. What happens when the popular music and movies event draws thousands to the Long Center on the same night as the quintessential summer music series packs nearby Zilker Park? We’re all about to find out. Sound and Cinema presents the classic alien buddy flick “E.T.” with a performance from excellent one-man funk band Henry and the Invisibles. Meanwhile, down Barton Springs Road, KGSR hosts a rescheduled performance by country swamp funker Shinyribs and soulful singer Tameca Jones. Both events are free and family friendly, but the convergence of crowds could provide hours of South Austin gridlock; consider alternate transportation options. Sound and Cinema: Music starts at 8 p.m., 701 W. Riverside Drive. Blues on the Green: 8 p.m. 2100 Barton Springs Road.
