We don’t know about y’all, but we were started to get worried it would never get hot this summer. A Texas summer without triple digits might as well be a snowstorm.

Luckily (?) those dog days we’ve come to know and loathe are finally here. Since most Austinites are puddles of sweat around this time of year, we’ve got a soundtrack to swelter to: this week’s playlist, music for people who are melting.

There are songs about high temperatures in general — “Hot Hot Hot !!!” by The Cure, “Too Darn Hot” by Ann Miller, “Hotter Than Hell” by Kiss — and fiery jams from Johnny Cash and Bruce Springsteen. There are a few odes to summer, like “Cruel Summer” by Bananarama and “Summertime” by Janis Joplin. Perhaps Modern English says it best, though: I melt with you, you melt with me, we all melt together.
