Local promoter Alliee Pearson (MissAlliee Projects) has teamed up with Austin Partners in Education to host a school supply drive and hip-hop throwdown at the Parish Underground on Friday, August 15. The two-part event kicks off at noon with a “funday” program for families. Activities for the little ones include a shapes and colors scavenger hunt, arts, crafts and math and language games. There will also be an anti-bullying themed entertainment program and a raffle. The family event runs til 5 p.m. Suggested donation is $5 (or school supplies) for adults. Kids are free.

Then at 10 p.m., after the kiddos are tucked into bed, the venue will “turn up for the grown folks” with a hip-hop throwdown featuring Chris Chirp, Dat Boy Supa, Mista D and more. The Parish Underground has a full kitchen and bar and the party runs til 2 a.m. The suggested donation is $10 or a basic school supply list.

Proceeds from the event and school supplies collected will be donated to Govalle, Harris and Overton elementary schools. School supplies can be dropped of early at Austin Partners In Education, 8000 Centre Park Dr., ste. 220. Fliers for event entry will be available at the drop off site. More info.
