Sunday music picks: Bluebonnets, Heart

Bluebonnets in-store at Antone’s Records. Even if you knew nothing about the members of this local all-female quartet, you’d probably come away impressed by their gutsy, bluesy rock ’n’ roll songs and spirited live performances. Their new disc “Play Loud,” a follow-up to the 2010 debut “Boom Boom Boom Boom,” testifies to their standing as one of the city’s best guitar-bass-drums outfits. Guitarist Kathy Valentine (a longtime member of the Go-Go’s) and bassist Dominique Davalos teamed with drummer Kristy McInnis while living in Los Angeles; after relocating to Austin, they hooked up with local guitar ace Eve Monsees, creating a formidable front line.
