Local teen band Residual Kid signs with Sire Records
Teenage Austin rock trio Residual Kid has signed record deal with Warner Bros. affiliate Sire Records, the band announced on its Facebook page today.
The group, which consists of 16-year-old guitarist Deven Ivey and brothers Ben (16) and Max Redman (14) on drums and bass, respectively, plans to have an EP on the label out next year, according to a report in the industry publication Billboard.
Sire founder and Warner Bros. vice president Seymour Stein first heard the band at South By Southwest, calling them “the most refreshing new band I’ve seen at SXSW in several years.”
The group performs Friday at 10:45 p.m. at the Parish as part of Fun Fun Fun Fest’s “Nites” series of club shows.
