Planner, April 10: Willie’s Picnic, more tickets on sale today

Rachel Corbelli
Tickets for Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July Picnic, which returns to Austin this year, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

America’s birthday is cause for celebration, as is the return to Austin of Willie’s Fourth of July Picnic. For the first time in five years, the all-day festival will be in the capital of Texas, this time at the Austin360 Amphitheater at the Circuit of the Americas. The 42nd edition of the picnic features 20 artists on two stages, including Willie Nelson & Family, Eric Church, Sturgill Simpson, Merle Haggard, Asleep at the Wheel and Ray Wylie Hubbard. After all the live music and refreshments, a fireworks display will close out the night. Tickets for the event go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

Game-changing American blues artist Buddy Guy comes through Austin this summer, and tickets for the show also go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. The 77-year-old was named one of Rolling Stone’s top 25 guitarists of all time, influencing artists like Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He pioneered the Chicago sound years ago, and he’s still sharing it with the world. His most recent release is a double-album set titled “Rhythm & Blues,” with one album for easy listening and another for dancing the night away. He should provide a little of both at his July 17 show at ACL Live.

Tickets for these summer shows also go on sale this week:

• Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe at ACL Live (June 5)

• Delta Spirit at the Parish (June 6)

• Ingrid Michaelson at ACL Live (June 8)

• First Aid Kid at Stubb’s Outdoors (July 16)

• Tanlines at Red 7 (July 17)

• Brit Floyd at ACL Live (July 25)

• Faith No More at Austin Music Hall (July 26)

• Death Cab For Cutie at ACL Live (Sept. 21)
