Neutral Milk Hotel at ACL Live. Following a solo appearance by Neutral Milk Hotel front man Jeff Mangum at ACL Live last year, Mangum, Scott Spillane, Julian Koster, and Jeremy Barnes return as part of a tour that begins in October and now extends through 2014.
The band, who are best known for their 1998 album “In The Aeroplane Over the Sea,” will play two nights — Feb. 17 and 19 — in Austin. Tickets, with a limit of four per person, go on sale at noon Friday at acl-live.com.

HAAM Benefit Day concert. The annual fund-raising day for the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians returns Sept. 24, and this year’s events include a giant concert at ACL Live. The all Austin lineup includes Ray Benson, Eric Johnson, Christopher Cross, Jimmie Vaughan, Suzanna Choffel, Monte Montgomery, and Charlie and Will Sexton, with more to be announced. Tickets for the show, called ALL-ATX, cost $25 to $35 and go on sale Friday through Ticketfly and the ACL Live box office (acl-live.com). For more on HAAM Benefit Day, go to www.myhaam.org.
Run at the track
First cars and motorcycles, now bicycles and feet. Another fitness event is coming to the Circuit of the Americas. HITS Inc. will host a slew of races at the track on Dec. 14. The lineup includes a Friends & Family Mile, a 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon and sprint duathlon. A health, wellness and fitness expo is also planned.
HITS stages running festivals and triathlons across the country. The December event will mark its first Austin event. Registration is open at HITSRunning.com. Prices are $10 for the mile, $20 for the 5K, $25 for the 10K, $65 for the half marathon, $75 for the marathon and $60 for the duathlon until Sept. 13, when prices increase. They increase again Dec. 8. “Austin is a hub of motivated, receptive athletes and we are thrilled to begin this venture there,” HITS Race Director Mark H. Wilson said in a news release. Officials with Holland Racing announced last month that they will stage bicycle races and a public bike ride at the track Aug. 31-Sept. 2.

The final Blues on the Green of the season doubles as a preview of the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Austin bands White Denim, My Jerusalem and the Preservation will play the free show Wednesday and be back in October at ACL Fest (tickets are still available for the second weekend of the fest).
