Mads Mikkelsen's Grindelwald declares war in 'Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore' trailer

Bad news for Muggles.

Mads Mikkelsen's dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald declares full-on war against ordinary humans during the just-released, first "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore" full trailer.

The trailer shows that Mikkelsen's Grindelwald is getting right to work. The first shot of the powerful wizard shows him extracting the memory from Yusuf Kama (William Nadylam).

Grindelwald's dark rallying call —"The war against the muggles. Begins. Today!" — serves as the first words hurled from the formidable Danish actor who replaced Johnny Depp in the role while filming was underway November 2020.

Mikkelsen told USA TODAY in May that it was "difficult to come three months into shooting while taking over for someone like that." He added that each cast member, including Eddie Redmayne as opposing magizoologist Newt Scamander, knocked at his door to make the new arch-villain feel welcome on the English set.
