Have the bandages handy. In the course of hitting the follow button so hard on Matthew McConaughey’s new Instagram profile, you could sustain a minor laceration from where you cracked the glass on your phone screen.

That’s right, that’s right, that’s right. Actor and beloved Austinite Matthew McConaughey is now on the social media photo app to which you’ve probably lost countless hours. He’s even got a little blue check mark to indicate the profile is verified.

And Nov. 4 is also the actor’s birthday — he’s turning 50.

McConaughey’s bio reads: “Husband. Father. Actor. Minister of Culture. Professor. Creative Director. AustinFC. JKLivin. Pickle Expert.”

Yes, these all check out.

McConaughey’s first (and only, so far) post is a video that shows he’s give more thought to this whole social media thing than you likely have. (Nice picture of brunch, pal.)

“When people come to page, I want ’em to see me,” he says in the video. “But this is my first venture into sharing myself and my views with the world, and I’m a little bit nervous.”

“I know I want to have the monologue, but I’m not sure I want to have the dialogue,” he adds, laughing.

The video was posted about an hour ago. McConaughey’s follower count has climbed to thousands in that short time.

Give us the content, Matthew. We crave it. Follow @officiallymcconaughey on Instagram.
