Fantastic Fest early lineup
Fantastic Fest announced its initial lineup today, and it’s headlined by the red carpet premiere of “Man of Tai Chi,” starring and directed by Keanu Reeves.
“Every year we scour the globe for the freshest and craziest genre films,” says Fantastic Fest founder and creative director Tim League. “This first incredible selection of films gives a small taste of the fun, but I can assure you there are lots of surprises yet to come. 2013 should be remembered a vintage year for Fantastic Fest.”
Other films in the early lineup:
“Big Bad Wolves,” an Israeli film from the folks behind “Rabies.”
“Borgman,” the eerie Dutch horror film that made its premiere at Cannes.
“Cheap Thrills,” from director E.L. Katz.
“Commando — A One Man Army,” from India.
“Eega,” a reincarnation/revenge tale from India.
“Halley,” a Mexican/Dutch horror flick from director Sebastian Hofmann.
“Kid’s Police,” from Japan.
“LFO,” a dark comedy from Sweden.
“Narco Cultura,” a documentary about the drug war and its — music. Yep, you read that right.
“Nightbreed — The Cabal Cut,” a director’s cut of the Clive Barker horror flick.
“Northwest,” about a teen hoodlum in Copenhagen.
“Nothing Bad Can Happen,” another entry from this year’s Cannes. And a very disturbing tale about a Christian’s matyrdom.
“On the Job,” with prisoners who get a day pass to kill.
“The Resurrection of a Bastard,” from the Netherlands.
“She Wolf,” from Argentina.
“Vic + Flo Saw a Bear,” a Canadian tale about life that unravels.
