Housecore Horror Film Festival coming to town October 24

Former Pantera frontman Philip Anselmo and true-crime writer Corey Mitchell bring the inaugural Housecore Horror Film Festival to Austin on October 24. The four-day festival is a celebration of horror film and heavy metal, with screenings and concerts held at Emo’s, Antone’s and Dirty Dog bar on East Sixth Street. The film lineup includes the world premiere of Austin rockabilly musician and filmmaker Jesse Dayton’s “Zombex,” a zombie apocalypse film set in post-Katrina New Orleans. Former Austinite Spencer Parsons’ locally shot “Saturday Morning Massacre,” a bloody and psychedelic take on “Scooby Dooh,” also screens. The music lineuop includes The Melvins and Gwar.
