Kat Candler receives $70,000 grant

Austin filmmaker Kat Candler has received a $70,000 grant from the San Francisco Film Society, in partnership with the Kenneth Rainin Foundation (KRF), for her post-production of hear dramatic feature “Hellion.” The film was one of 9 projects to receive a total of $425,000 in grant money. Candler filmed the story of a single father (Aaron Paul of “Breaking Bad”) raising young sons this summer in southeast Texas. Previous recipients of the SFFS grant include Sundance Film Festival winners “Beasts of the Southern Wild” and “Fruitvale Station.”
