The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced its Golden Globes awards nominees Thursday morning, and a few of the nominated actors have Austin ties.

“Dallas Buyers Club” star Matthew McConaughey earned a nomination for best actor in a drama for his performance of Rob Woodroof, a heterosexual Dallas man who started a black market drug and supplement ring for people with HIV. Sandra Bullock earned a nomination as a stranded scientist in space in “Gravity,” and French actress Julie Delpy received a nomination for best actress in a drama for her stirring performance in Richard Linklater’s “Before Midnight,” a moving examination of the difficulties of love, which Delpy co-wrote.

Linklater and “Mud” writer-director Jeff Nichols were overlooked, as was “Before Midnight” co-star Ethan Hawke and “Mud” star Tye Sheridan.

British director Steve McQueen’s amazing “12 Years a Slave” and David O. Russell’s 70s period dramedy “American Hustle” led all contenders with seven nominations each.

The 71st Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, will be held on Sunday, Jan. 12 in Beverly Hills.
