Candler’s ‘Hellion’ gets distribution
Sundance Selects is buying the North American distribution rights to Austin writer-director Kat Candler’s “Hellion,” which stars Aaron Paul, Juliette Lewis and newcomer Josh Wiggins.
“Hellion,” which premiered in January in Sundance, will be playing the South by Southwest Film Festival with two screenings: at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at the Topfer Theatre at the Zach, and at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, again at the Topfer.
Sundance Selects said Monday that it will release the film in theaters and on VOD later this year.
“Hellion” focuses on a rebellious 13-year-old dirt bike racer in Southeast Texas played by newcomer Josh Wiggins. It co-stars Aaron Paul and Juliette Lewis.
Wiggins won raves at Sundance for his performance.
Candler said via Twitter on Monday afternoon that she was “a little speechless but so so grateful.”
