Sound of Silent Film Festival coming to Austin April 11
Chicago’s Sound of Silent Film festival will make its Austin debut 7:30 pm. at the Austin Film Society’s Marchesa Theater April 11.
The festival eatures newly composed scores performed live to silent films or films without dialogue with important sound effects have to be recreated acoustically by the composers and a six-musician ensemble.
Selections include Steve Stein’s “Must Like Magic,” Martin Scorsese’s “The Big Shave” and Guy Maddin’s “Heart of the World” and the Quay brothers’ “The Cabinet of Jan Svankmajer” among others.
Tickets are $12, $10 for Austin Film Society members.
