In honor of the late actor Robin Williams, the Paramount Theatre is hosting a free screening at 7 p.m. Sunday of “The Birdcage,” the 1996 comedy co-starring Nathan Lane.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and people will be admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis. No tickets or RSVPs are required. The Paramount is located at 713 Congress Ave.
In “The Birdcage,” Williams stars as a gay cabaret owner who lives with his partner, a drag queen. When their straight son announces that he’s engaged, the two men decide to hide their occupations from the visiting in-laws-to-be, who turn out to be right-wing and moralistic. As you might expect, the charade doesn’t last.
Williams died Aug. 11 of an apparent suicide. He was 63.
