David Gordon Green getting more festival love
Austin director David Gordon Green is going to have a busy fall. The Venice Film Festival announced Thursday that his new movie, “Manglehorn,” will be making its world premiere there, in advance of the North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
“Manglehorn,” which stars Al Pacino and Holly Hunter and was filmed in Austin, will be competing for the Golden Lion, the top award in Venice.
Other competitition tiles are Ramin Bahrani’s financial drama “99 Homes,” starring Andrew Garfield and Laura Dern; Andrew Niccol’s “The Good Kill,” starring Ethan Hawke, most recently of “Boyhood” fame; Abel Ferrara’s “Pasolini,” starring Willem Dafoe asd the Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini; and Italian director Saverio Costanzo’s “Hungry Hearts,” starring Adam Driver, best known as Lena Dunham’s boyfriend on the HBO series “Girls.”
