Austin Film Festival announces new creative director, film team

Former Austin Film Festival conference director and film programmer Erin Hallagan has been named overall creative director for AFF.

She will work with senior programmer Elizabeth Mims (whom Matthew Odam profiled last year) and film program coordinator, Harrison Glaser to plan, promote, and implement the film program.

Mims was formerly the director of the Young Filmmakers Program while Glaser served as conference Assistant in 2012 and 2013.

The Festival is also presenting a year-round slate of events including their “On Story/Conversations in Film” series, a partnership with the Writers Guild Foundation in Los Angeles, and film selections from its Made in Texas, Family Films, Audience Award Winners, and Austin Premieres series.

As part of the “On Story”/ “Conversation in Film” presents “Making Yout Short Film” 2 p.m. March 30 at the Ransom Center featuring directors Kat “Hellion” Candler, David “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” Lowery and Miguel :Mnemosyne Rising” Alvarez in discussion. On Story® is a half-hour TV series that takes a look at the creative process of filmmaking through the eyes of some of the entertainment industry’s most prolific writers, directors and producers. The fourth season of “On Story” premieres Apri l19 on KLRU and KLRUQ.
