Rooney Mara (left), Val Kilmer (center) and Black Lips guitarist Cole Alexander all performed last week on the Blue Stage at Fun Fun Fun Fest as part of filming for a new Terrence Malick movie.

Doesn’t that guy on stage holding a chainsaw look like Val Kilmer? And doesn’t that girl standing on stage with a guitar look a lot like “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” star Rooney Mara?

Yes and yes.

Kilmer, Mara and “Shame” star Michael Fassbender were spotted all over Auditorium Shores at last weekend’s Fun Fun Fun Fest shooting scenes for a new Terrence Malick film. At one point Mara took to the Blue Stage to “perform” with rock band the Black Lips, while Kilmer roamed the stage with a chainsaw, before cutting his own hair with a knife and planting a kiss on Black Lips guitarist Cole Alexander.

The actors are starring in the untitled Malick film that IMDB.com says tells the story of two love triangles backdropped by the Austin music scene. Malick filmed at both Fun Fun Fun Fest and the Austin City Limits Music Festival this year and last.

Natalie Portman and Ryan Gosling, who also star in the movie, have been spotted filming on locations around town in recent months.
