Resplendence on Oscars' red carpet
Check out our favorite looks from the Academy Awards.
It was all about ladies in red as the striking color ruled the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lawrence, Penélope Cruz, Jennifer Hudson, Austinite Sandra Bullock and others showed their passionate sides and broke a long-standing Hollywood rule of not wearing reddish hues on the red carpet.
Many of the red designs were quite minimal and came from labels such as Calvin Klein, Vera Wang and Versace.
Though the red theme was bold and bright, other hot Oscar night colors included neutrals such as silver, champagne, grey, nude and taupe as well as springtime plums and lavenders.
Feathers, tulle, beads, ruffles and lace counterbalanced the minimal looks. For example, Gwyneth Paltrow's silver Calvin Klein metallic sheath had a modern yet simple aesthetic, while Cate Blanchett's Givenchy couture gown became a talker.
Missing was the bold statement jewelry from previous years. Perhaps that was intentional. Many stars without jewels downplayed their makeup and went with fresh-faced looks, appearing almost as if they had taken a toddy of youth serum before stepping out of their limousines. Now, here are our picks of Oscar night's most intriguing looks and fashion themes.
