Things to do in Austin the weekend of Nov. 14-17

1. East Austin Studio Tour

The annual, self‑guided tour of artist studios and galleries is back for two weekends in November. EAST, produced by Big Medium, is your chance to meet the artists of Austin in their creative spaces. East of Interstate 35, west and south of U.S. 183 and north of Riverside Drive, the tour has a catalog, map, app and event guide that will help you figure out where to go and what to see. Two nights before the first day is Due EAST, the official kick-off party and fundraiser at Canopy.

2. “Marisol”

In José Rivera’s poetic dystopian drama, staged by the Mary Moody Northen Theatre at St. Edward’s University, Marisol Perez commutes from her apartment in the Bronx to her copy editor job in Manhattan and realizes along the way something is amiss: Apples are extinct, milk tastes like salt and the moon has been missing for nine months. And there may be only one way to save the universe.

3. Utopia Fest at Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet

In its second year at this location since moving from its nine-year home in the southern Hill Country, Utopia Fest features more than two dozen acts across three days, most of them playing Friday-Saturday after a Thursday evening kickoff party. Friday’s performers include Brownout, Toubab Krewe and the Deer; Saturday’s big-draw headliner is Shakey Graves, with Son Volt, Jackie Venson, Israel Nash and Erika Wennerstrom also in the mix. — Peter Blackstock

4. Fruit & Flower Anniversary at Blue Owl Brewing

The sour-obsessed East Austin brewery celebrates four years with a themed celebration. In true Blue Owl fashion, there will be fun games and special sours throughout the day. Among the things that are planned? Craft your own flower crown and then have your picture taken on the flower throne. Enter a drawing to win a slim keg of Spirit Animal. And join co-owner and executive brewer Jeff Young at a VIP brewery tour.

5. The Bloody Mary Festival

Here’s the brunch party of the year. Your ticket includes 2 1/2 hours of enjoying Austin's most creative and innovative bloody marys, created by the likes of Snooze, Pitchfork Pretty and the Cavalier as well as bloody mary mix makers including the Bloody Buddy. Cast your vote for the people’s choice award. (A set of judges will also award a prize.) VIP ticket holders get to enter the festival venue an hour early, at noon.
