1. Sixth Annual Lager Jam

11 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 27. Free-$30. Spokesman, 440 E. Saint Elmo Road, Suite A-2. facebook.com/events/2308617202782253

Love lagers? You know you do. Taste your fill of this refreshing, made-for-summer beer this weekend at this event produced annually by Austin Beer Guide. There will be 30 lagers from more than 20 breweries from Austin and beyond, including a collaboration between Real Ale and Jester King Brewery and rarely distributed beers such as Oddwood Ales' Japanese-style rice lager. The full beer list is posted on the Facebook event page. Advanced tickets may still be available; if not, you can instead buy lagers a la carte, with no admission fee.

2. Zilker Summer Musical: Disney's "The Little Mermaid"

8:15 p.m. Thursday-Sunday through Aug. 17. Free. The Zilker Hillside Theater, 2206 William Barton Drive. zilker.org/mermaid

Zilker Theatre Productions takes us under the sea for its 61st season. The splashy musical adventure is sure to have audiences singing along with favorite Disney songs. Based on the animated 1989 film of the same name, which itself was based off the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, "The Little Mermaid" production is about a mermaid who dreams of living in the world above the sea and gives up her voice to find love. Don't forget your blanket to spread on the Zilker lawn.

3. Beck and Cage the Elephant at Austin360 Amphitheater

6 p.m. July 26. $45-$172. 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd. austin360amphitheater.com

The 2015 Album of the Year Grammy winner for “Morning Phase,” Beck released a new song called “Saw Lightning” in April from a supposedly upcoming album, though in typically mercurial fashion, he noted it would be out at an "as yet undetermined point in the space-time continuum.” That point still hasn’t arrived, even as he’s amid one of the bigger tours of the summer with 2017 Rock Album Grammy winners Cage the Elephant, whose new “Social Cues” LP came out in April. — Peter Blackstock

4. SCH Ice Cream Showdown

3 to 6:30 p.m. July 27. Free. South Congress Hotel, 1603 S. Congress Ave. facebook.com/events/700901703688363

July is National Ice Cream Month. Close it out with this third annual event that will give you quite a frosty treat. New Waterloo culinary director Amanda Rockman hosts this competition between several of Austin's best pastry chefs, including Krystal Craig of Intero and Katie Fisher of Pitchfork Pretty. Each scoop of ice cream will be $3. Taste one or taste them all, and then cast your vote for your favorite and see the winner crowned at 6 p.m.

5. Pink Hawaii Luau Summer Swell

2 to 6 p.m. July 28. $30. East Austin Hotel, 1108 E. Sixth St. resortpass.com/east-austin-hotel

The East Austin Hotel's weekly Sunday pool party, called the Summer Swell, tends to be reminiscent of 1960s Palm Springs pool parties. This week, however, will have a different type of beach theme. For the Pink Hawaii Luau, expect a tropical paradise with a festive pig roast pop-up with chef Jason Stude and chef Tako Matsumoto, along with vacation-inspired drinks and complimentary WhistlePig Whiskey.
