CultureMap Austin Tastemaker Awards 2019. The online publication's annual celebration of Austin and San Antonio's food and drink industries returns with bites by nominated restaurants. The winners in several categories, including restaurant of the year and brewery of the year, will be unveiled with a splash at this tasting event. There are both general admission and VIP tickets, which come with perks including early admission and a dedicated VIP bar. SXSW Hangover VIII at Mohawk indoor. For the eighth year in a row, local heavies LNS Crew will host an ATX hip hop blowout at the Mohawk. The roster for this year’s event includes LNS standouts Kydd Jones, Tank Washington and Cory Kendrix, who’s in town from Denver for the event. Young upstart CP Looney is also on the bill, and for hungry hip hop heads in the house, the crew is springing for free tacos. 9 p.m. doors April 10. 912 Red River St. — Deborah Sengupta Stith

"Cauldrons & Crucibles: In Search of the Sublime" at Lora Reynolds Gallery. Ceramics artist Tony Marsh's first presentation at the gallery displays two series he calls "Cauldrons and Crucibles": nonfunctional, cylindrical ceramic vessels that can be as small as a can of paint or as large as a barrel — and have boundless color. Each surface is punctuated by globular protrusions and encrusted with thick glaze that bubbles, cracks and drips. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday though June 8. 360 Nueces St. Ste. 50.
