Cheese and beer pairings among things to do Thursday

Say Cheese & Cheers! A Beer and Cheese Pairing at Celis Brewery. Wine and cheese is the obvious pairing, but did you know beer and cheese is also divine? The expert cheesemongers from Morning Glory Baking Co. will guide you through pairings of their favorite cheeses alongside Celis craft beers. Taste, aroma, balance and mouthfeel — you will learn about each in both beer and cheese. “A Doll’s House, Part 2” at Hyde Park Theatre. In 1879, Henrik Ibsen wrote one of the most controversial plays of all time, “A Doll’s House,” in which Nora walks out on her husband and children with a feminist door slam that reverberated worldwide. Fast forward to the 21st century with “A Doll’s House, Part 2,” a highly modern follow-up by playwright Lucas Hnath in which Nora must return 15 years after her dramatic exit to face what she left behind. 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday through March 30. $23-$27. First Austin African Violet Society's Spring Plant Display & Sale. Explore gorgeous perennial flowers and educational displays at this seasonal event. African violets and other gesneriad plants, as well as growing supplies, will be for sale at Zilker Botanical Garden. Plus, there will be special demonstrations on repotting African violets and propagating leaves at two different times: 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm. Scenic Spring Sauntering at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. American transcendentalists such as Henry David Thoreau were practitioners of sauntering, a mindful meandering with the aim of spiritual connection to the earth. Austin Pond Society meeting. The monthly meeting will feature speaker Reeve Hobbie, from the Travis County Master Gardeners, who will give a talk called "If Plants Could Talk." He will talk about care for both water and regular garden plants. There will also be a light supper at 6:30 p.m. and a discussion of what the best gardening tools are. The talk is at 7 p.m. March 18.
