Balcones Community Orchestra Show. The orchestra presents Ian Davidson, an oboe player, performing Wilhelm August Lebrun's "Oboe Concerto No. 1 in D Minor." Balcones also will perform Handel's "Concerto Grosso Op. 6 No. 4 in A Minor" and Haydn's "Symphony No. 89 in F Major." 4 p.m. Sunday. Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 2111 Alexander Ave.


15th Annual People's Gallery exhibition. The City of Austin Cultural Arts Division's new multiartist show features a wide array of painting, sculpture, drawing and other media by 113 artists from across the Austin area. This year, the show will include a special selection of photographs, "Bold Beauty Project Texas." 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday through Oct. 25. Austin City Hall, 301 W. Second St.

Bourbon Takeover of Texas 2019. In celebration of Texas Independence Day, Garrison Brothers Distillery has teamed up with chefs and bartenders across Texas to offer limited Garrison cocktails and culinary specials at their bars and restaurants, including Fairmont Austin, Better Half and Fixe Southern House. Ongoing through March 2.


Texas Radio Live with Go Fever, Shy Beast at Guero’s. Go Fever, our Austin360 Artist of the Month for February, caps an impressive month of local activity that included an EP release show, a Waterloo in-store and a Black Fret showcase by playing Sun Radio’s weekly live broadcast from the outdoor oak garden at Guero’s. Christopher Paolini at Austin Central Library. "Eragon" fantasy writer Paolini is back with a new set of adventures in Alagaësia, "The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm," interspersed with scenes from Eragon’s own unfolding journey. Paolini will give an author talk and signing as part of the library's At Central series. Tickets to the signing line are only available with the purchase of a copy of the book via BookPeople. KUTX's Rock the Park. Another round of free, family-friendly concerts curated by KUTX returns to the amphitheater at Mueller Lake Park this spring. Come early to grab your spot on the lawn and grab dinner from a food truck. There will be activities for the kids, including face painting. 6:15 p.m. Friday. 4550 Mueller Blvd.

Saturday, March 2

The Mardi Gras Dog Parade at the ABGB. Bring your dog to bark for beads at this fundraiser for Pug Rescue Austin, which will have adoptable pugs on-site. At 4 p.m., all dogs dressed in costume can participate in the big parade around the ABGB parking lot. The afternoon also includes king cake and other Cajun specialties like gumbo. 2 p.m. March 2. 1305 W. Oltorf St.
