Coming up

Meshell Ndegeocello at 3Ten Austin. On her new album, “Ventriloquism,” the genre-annihilating singer and bass player brilliantly inhabits the work of other artists. Her version of Al B. Sure’s “Nite and Day” is a smoky soul fantasy. Her take on Tina Turner’s “Private Dancer” highlights the song’s quiet desperation, and on “Sometimes It Snows in April” by Prince, she’s downright devastating. Hanna Benn opens. $35. 7 p.m. Jan. 17. 310 Willie Nelson Blvd. 3tenaustin.com. — Deborah Sengupta Stith
