Mediterranean-inspired Auguste and Marcel takes over former Little, Barrel and Brown space

Matthew Odam

When native Frenchman Sébastien Charbonneaux bought Little Barrel and Brown last year from the Botticelli brothers, he said he would keep the name but intended to bring a few French twists to the comfort menu under the guidance of French chef Cédric François.

After about six months, those plans changed, as the restaurant rebranded recently as August and Marcel, a Mediterranean-inspired bistro. The menu from François, who was the chef at Cafe Malta for two years, features salmon paté, an assortment of flatbreads, mussels, patatas bravas and cured anchovies. There are also some remnants of the American comfort food with dishes like pulled pork sliders. The wine selection is comprised mostly of labels from Spain, France and Italy. Auguste and Marcel is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for happy hour and dinner and Saturday and Sunday for brunch and dinner.
