Sponsored: Bud Light Austin Is Hosting a Summer Concert Series -- and It Is Going To Be Glorious.
Hey Austinites, this is happening: Bud Light Austin is hosting the Summer Live Series right here in the Austin American-Statesman warehouse! That means cold beer, live music and a world of fun (read: exactly what I would have pulled together if I were creating my dream Summer Party scene) hosted by Bud Light Austin this June, July and August. The first of these three summer concerts will take place this Thursday, June 22nd and will feature Dawes with special guest The Texas Gentlemen. Join us for happy hour at 5pm. Doors open to the concert space at 7pm. The show will begin at 8pm. All here at 305 South Congress Ave., Austin, TX, 78704.
To say I’m excited for this summer concert series kickoff would be an understatement. It will bring us together and up close and personal with breakthrough artists Dawes (!!!) and The Texas Gentlemen (Yes y’all yes!!!). As one who has been privy to the event planning, I’m giddy. Bud Light Austin is temporarily transforming our historic space into the best dive bar ever replete with a mechanical bull, armadillo racing prior to the actual concert, and of course cold Bud Light. Yours truly will host. Great times, great beer and great connections are to be expected.
Dawes is an American folk-rock band hailing from Los Angeles, playing, I hope, “Things Happen” and “We’re All Gonna Die” at least twice each. Thrice would be my suggestion but, in fact, Dawes is in charge of their set list and this may be why. Pretty much all of their songs go down easy and leave me bobbing my head with my hands in the air (occasionally while mouthing yasssssssss). Kind of PERFECT for a free summer concert series with a few hundred of your friends and neighbors right?! If you’re not yet familiar with their album titled, “We’re All Gonna Die”, I’d suggest you start there and then jam on over to iTunes and/or Spotify to catch their latest which they have cleverly titled, “We’re All Gonna Live”.
The Texas Gentlemen promise to kick things off in a big Texas way with their signature It Is What It Is style. Gentlemen all, The Texas Gentlemen is a band made of musicians who are each magnetic artists in their own right. They come together and stir the pot to see what happens. They have a history of welcoming “honorary Gentlemen” to their creative process, and stage, including Leon Bridges (note: he is not expected at this event). Also, there’s a world of long hair don’t care and tattoos going on here. Again, kind of PERFECT for a free summer concert series with a few hundred of your friends and neighbors, amiright?!
And just when you wonder if it could possibly get any better, I’ve got this good news for you: Dawes has chosen the Austin Music Foundation to receive a portion of the proceeds from this event. For the July and August installations the headliner artists (to be announced) will also be selecting a local nonprofit charity partner to receive a portion of the event’s sales. This means the party carries on long after our actual time together.
Fun fact: Bud Light Austin recently demonstrated their ongoing commitment to Austin’s live music scene when they signed on to co-sponsor Austin360’s livestreaming music series, the Austin360 Studio Sessions presented by Bud Light and TicketCity, which is filmed right here in The Statesman Studio with a small live studio audience. These Studio Sessions allow music fans everywhere a chance to enjoy a live concert and also to connect directly with the Musical Artist(s) during the live interview that comes after their music set. You can find previously recorded episodes on our website at Austin360.com/StudioSessions or by visiting our Facebook page at facebook.com/Austin360, clicking on “Videos” and then scrolling down to the playlist that features our first eighteen episodes.
Get in here y’all. Pre-registration is required. You must be a minimum of 21 years of age to attend. For more information about the Bud Light Austin Summer Live Series, and to sign on to the guest list, visit summerliveseries.com.
Gentle Reminder: Happy Hour is at 5pm but the doors open to the concert space at 7pm. Plan accordingly.
