The “Anchorman” franchise lives on, even if the recently released second installment was, by most accounts, nowhere near as funny as its predecessor.
Today during South by Southwest, producers unveiled the AnchorVan, which will spend the next several weeks traveling the country, serving up late-breaking news – and fried chicken.
It’s billed as the world’s first combination news/food truck.
Why fried chicken? In “Anchorman 2” fans learned that sportscaster Champ Kind had opened a fried chicken restaurant after losing his TV news gig.
The AnchorVan will be on display today and tomorrow at the southeast corner of Cesar Chavez and Red River streets in downtown Austin. After that, it’s off to Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington D.C.
The final stop will be April 1 in New York. That’s the same day “Anchorman 2” comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray.
