Austin NBC affiliate KXAN will launch a new, locally produced lifestyle program this summer.

The show, “Studio 512,” will be hosted by Amanda Tatom, who arrives in Austin after a stint anchoring the evening newscasts at a station in Lubbock.

“It’s exciting to live in an area that’s both cutting edge and steeped in tradition,” Tatom said. “’Studio 512’ will follow suit, bringing our viewers what’s hip and trendy without losing sight of what’s tried and true. We’ll be the go-to show for all things Austin and beyond, whether you have been here for years or are brand new to the area.”

KXAN’s hour-long noon newscast will be cut to 30 minutes to make way for “Studio 512,” which has been slotted for 12:30 p.m. weekdays. An exact start date hasn’t been announced, but the station says it’ll be sometime in August.

“Central Texas has so much to offer its residents that it’s challenging to know all the incredible things to do out there,” said Eric Lassberg, president and general manager of KXAN and sister stations KBVO and KNVA. “This show will help with that. Watch this show and you will gain ideas on local things of interest and adventure.”

KEYE is also planning a lifestyle show, but hasn’t provided many details so far. The CBS affiliate posted ads for three jobs for the show, including a host, earlier this year.
