News director Greg Turchetta is leaving KEYE and heading back home to Florida for a new gig.
At a staff meeting held this afternoon at the station, it was revealed that Turchetta will soon oversee communications for a school system in the Naples, Fla., area.
His final day on the job at KEYE is Aug. 8.
Turchetta arrived at the city’s CBS affiliate two years ago, after serving as assistant news director at the Fox station in Orlando, Fla. Previously, he’d worked at stations in Atlanta, Seattle and Jacksonville, Fla., among others.
During his time at KEYE, Turchetta has presided over a number of high-profile moves, including hiring Hema Mullur as a replacement for retiring main anchor Judy Maggio and selecting new chief meteorologist Chikage Windler.
He also made tweaks to the station’s morning news lineup, and was instrumental in the rollout of several new technological advances, including KEYE’s Timesaver Traffic Tracker.
