Austin-based LIN Media said Wednesday that it is a participant in a five-way swap of 10 TV stations nationwide.

The deals involve stations in cities where both LIN Media and Richmond, Va.-based Media General operate. Media General is in the process of acquiring LIN Media and the combined companies would have exceeded federal ownership caps in those five cities, executives said.

Sinclair Broadcast Group is taking over LIN Media’s Fox and CW affiliates in Green Bay, Wis.; LIN Media’s Fox station in Savannah, Ga.; and Media General’s NBC affiliate in Providence, R.I.

Media General, in turn, will get three Sinclair stations: the MyNetworkTV affiliate in Tampa, Fla.; and the Fox and CW stations in Colorado Springs, Colo.

LIN Media’s station in Mobile, Ala., is being acquired by Meredith Corp., while Hearst is buying two Media General stations: the NBC affiliate in Birmingham, Ala.; and the ABC affiliate in Savannah, Ga.
