Saturday music picks: One Republic, Michael Jackson birthday bash

One Republic at Austin360 Amphitheater. Confounding their early critics, this band of Colorado Springs rockers has spent the last seven years parlaying reasonable success with formulaic, radio-ready jams into international stardom. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. The band’s most recent effort “Native” might not win any originality awards, but it’s loaded with enough sweeping melodies and soaring choruses to move the masses at an arena rock revival.
