Monday music picks: Strand of Oaks, Mystery Monday

Strand of Oaks at Lamberts and Waterloo Records. Though essentially the project of Philadelphia musician Timothy Showalter, who has sometimes toured solo under his band moniker, Strand of Oaks is a full-on indie-rock foursome for this tour behind “Heal,” which came out in June and built upon the promise of three previous albums. The past year’s been a rough one — Showalter and his wife collided with semi trucks on an icy freeway last Christmas, and they lost computers and passports when their van was broken into on their current tour — but little victories like getting to perform on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” last month have helped make up for it.
