Massive rager at Spiderhouse Saturday

You may recall the giant show at Spiderhouse during South by Soutwest starring garage rock superstar Ty Segall. There’s an equally massive Spiderhouse Rager one going down Sept. 6 starring a whole mess of bands, headlined by Marnie Stern and the Entrance Band.

Stern and her maximum guitar shred, equal parts indie rock, metal and the more complicated end of prog rock, blew minds on 2013’s ridiculously excellent “The Chronicles of Marnia,” which boiled her weirdness into pop-song hunks.

The Entrance Band, also once known as Entrance is the brainchild of Guy Blakeslee, a Baltimore musician now based in Los Angeles who blew out his expanded his one-man-versus-the-planet psych-rock act into full power trio size. Check out last year’s trippy “Face the Sun,” the band’s first album in four years, for the whole story.

With Boyfriendz and Major Major Major, all on the outside cafe stage. Major Major Major hits the stage at 8 p.m., Stern at 11.

Indoors, check out locals Karmatron, Taft, Growl and Hikes (who bill their sound as “math-folk,” meaning they fit in kind of brilliantly with Stern). Hikes hit the stage at 9:3o.

Tickets are only $15, VIP for $20. If you RSVPed on the FB event, you can get in for $10 or $15 VIP.
