One of J. Black’s board of directors arrested in sex trafficking sweep
Update: A representative for J. Black’s responded to the news with the following comment:
We are shocked and dismayed by the recent allegations regarding Judson Sutherland and will obviously cooperate fully with any law enforcement agency investigation. J. Black’s and its employees do not support or condone any of the alleged activities. J. Black’s has a long, and active tradition of supporting the Austin community and that will never change.
The Statesman’s Phil Jankowski reports that Judson V. Sutherland, an Austin lawyer and member of the board of directors for J. Black’s Feel Good Kitchen (710 B W 6th St.), was arrested last week in an FBI sweep aimed at sex trafficking. Jankowski reports that police arrested Sutherland after he agreed to pay $60 for sexual intercourse after responding to an online ad for prostituion. Jankowski writes that Sutherland “was one of seven hit with prostitution-related charges in Austin during the FBI initiative Operation Cross Country last week.” Click the story on Statesman.com for more details, including the response from the law firm of which Sutherland is a name partner.
