With snarling rock, sexy sass Preatures kick ACL into high gear
The next time Aussie rockers Preatures play ACL Fest expect it to be on a bigger stage in a prime time slot. The band which just dropped its debut full-length on Tuesday, oozed rock star potential in a 1 p.m. set on the Austin Ventures stage. Lead singer Isabella Manfredi was a charismatic firebrand. With vocals that shifted from a kittenish croon to a guttural snarl, she bounced wildly around the stage caught up in the tight melodies and solid rock ‘n’ roll grooves dropped by her band.
“We love Austin,” she told the cheering crowd. The band spent a month in town after South By Southwest recording with Spoon’s Jim Eno. “It feels like home,” Manfredi said.
