Sunday music picks: Billy Joe Shaver 75th birthday, Buddy Guy

Peter Blackstock

Billy Joe Shaver 75th birthday at Paramount Theatre. The odds seemed pretty long against quintessential outlaw Billy Joe Shaver making it to 75, so it’s fitting that a bunch of his rowdy friends are showing up to toast the occasion. Shaver, who actually turned 75 on Aug. 16, is riding high off his new album “Long in the Tooth,” which reached the top 20 of the country charts upon its release last month. Joining him at the Paramount will be Ray Wylie Hubbard, James McMurty, Joe Pug, Jason Boland and Jason Eady (and likely a few others). $47-$62. 7 p.m. 713 Congress Ave. — Peter Blackstock
