ACL Fest: A soggy start to Saturday
Heavy rains in the early morning hours delayed the start time of weekend two, day two to 12:30 p.m., an hour later than the scheduled start time on Saturday. For several local bands who had scheduled start times between 11-11:15, sets were cancelled. Holly Harkrider who had come early to see her brother Ryan Harkrider play in the band The Nightowls was a bit disappointed as was childhood fried Jordan Treuter who flew in from Georgia to catch the set. Harkrider and Treuter we’re heading down Barton Springs road to get some food and kill time at 11 a.m.
On the field, the festival started to kick in to gear. Some problems with power generators probably led to the delayed start, but by 11:40 a.m. screens in the beer tent and by the Waterloo Records tent were showing the Longhorns game and bands were sound checking.
While grounds are not nearly as soggy as they were in 2009, the mud year, and grass seems to be holding up fine, there are plenty of puddles and some large patches of standing water on the ground. It’s a good day to leave the blankets at home and wear rain boots.
