Where to celebrate PRIDE in Austin

While most of the world celebrates LGBT pride in June, Austin celebrates it in August. The Austin Gay and Lesbian Pride Foundation (AGLPF) hosts Austin PRIDE for a week in August, culminating in a huge parade and celebration, which falls on Aug. 26 this year. Here’s a full rundown of official PRIDE and PRIDE-adjacent events this week.
?Wednesday, Aug. 23 - Comedy Sellers at Sellers Underground. This new queer-friendly show features a variety of people that of different sexual, gender and race identities. It’s premiering during PRIDE with Rachel Hall and Carina Magyar.
?Thursday, Aug. 24 - 5th Annual WERK Fashion Show at ACL Live. The annual event, hosted by Bianca Del Rio and Coco Peru, will feature designers from “Project Runway” and will feature performances from former contestants on “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Proceeds benefit the Austin LGBTG Community Center.
?Friday, Aug. 25 - Show Your Colors: A UO Pride Happy Hour at Space 24 Twenty. Get your aura read, participate in a community mural and enjoy complimentary Juiceland cocktails. There will also be a raffle benefiting OutYouth and a 10 percent store discount at Urban Outfitters during the event.
?Saturday, Aug. 26 - The official Austin PRIDE Festival at Festival Gardens. We’re talking music, games, photo booths, face painting, food and drinks and more than 140 vendor booths featuring nonprofits and products that support the LGBTQ community.
Saturday, Aug. 26 - The official Austin PRIDE Parade in downtown Austin. The parade kicks off at 8 p.m. at the Texas State Capitol and continues down Congress, through the Warehouse District, ending at Republic Square Park.
?Sunday, Aug. 27 - QueerTowne Extravaganza at ColdTowne Theater. The annual showcase shines a spotlight on the queer and trans comedy community in Austin.
?Sunday, Aug. 27? - Queer Brunch at St. Elmo Brewing. “Speed sharing” is basically speed truth-or-dare, featuring dance moves and maybe even meeting your new best friend. $1 from every pint will be donated to OutYouth.
