“Pfft. I could do that.”

Five locals who have never performed standup comedy before decided to put their punchlines where their mouths are, resulting in the second “Dillo Dirt Comedy Jam,” 9 p.m. May 11 at the New Movement Theater, 616 Lavaca St. (doors open at 8:30 p.m.).

“Everybody knows someone like our performers,” says host David Neff. “They’re funny at parties or in the office but never challenged themselves like this. We dare them to take their ‘ha ha’ a step further.”

Organizers say the performers include “a semi-pro karaoke artist; a renaissance fair aficionado; and a bike-loving hipster.” Mmmm … Austin-y. Free adult beverages courtesy of Deep Eddy Vodka will be provided to audience members age 21 and older.

Tickets ($15) can be purchased online at the event website.
