Thursday’s Pick: Beer Week Celebration at Gourdough’s Public House

Rachel Corbelli

How could a week made for celebrating the hoppiest, maltiest, and craftiest of adult beverages get any better? Donuts. Gourdough’s Public House (2700 S. Lamar) created a three-course, beer-infused, prix fixe menu with pallet-enhancing pairings and a complementing flight for Austin Beer Week. Indulge in their sweet and savory spread to kick the early Halloween candy craving.

The meal begins on a savory note with shrimp nachos with creole remoulade, jalapeño, onion, and cilantro served with Sympathy for the Lager habanero-chili sauce. The main course introduces some sweetness with a mushroom, bacon and Swiss burger with tangy El Hopadillo BBQ sauce in between two piping hot donuts.  And for dessert: a mini-donut with Bourbon Barrel Hellfighter-infused maple icing topped with smoky bacon.

Stop drooling, there’s more. The accompanying beer flight includes the Bourbon Barrel Aged Hellfighter #7, a full-bodied beer aged in Makers Mark barrels for eight to ten months. Gourdough’s has one of only six barrels of the delicacy in Austin. Also featured are Sympathy for the Lager and El Hopadillo Black IPA.

This $25 bill of fare is only available until November 2nd. Gordough’s Public House is open until midnight on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, and 1 a.m. on Saturday.
