Sunday’s Pick: Wurstfest

Rachel Corbelli

Somehow, Wurstfest finds a way to get better every year. Along with the usual German food, dancing, music, and carnival rides, this year the New Braunfels festival offers a Bavarian market (Marktplatz), a craft beer garden, a fleet of food trucks, and a Biergarten with a new music stage for picnicking and partying.

In 1961 it was “Sausage Festival,” then “Wurst Week,” and now “Wurstfest.” What began as a one-day celebration of the most delectable sausage in the area is now a ten-day celebration of German culture stirred up with Texas fun. It’s a short drive away, but with five music stages, a carnival, and an endless selection of Texas, German, and craft beers, there’s fun for everyone in the family.

The festival is open from 11 a.m.-9:3 p.m. on Sunday. Wurstfest continues until Sunday, November 16
