Having already taken their first steps outside of the Austin market with a planned Loro in Dallas, partners Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin are readying for their next move beyond Austin’s city limits.

The two James Beard Award-winning chefs will open a location of Loro in Houston in winter 2021. The Asian smokehouse will be found at 1001 West 11th St. in the vibrant Heights neighborhood. It will be the second Hai Hospitality concept in Houston, where Uchi was opened in 2012.

“Since opening Uchi here in 2012, we have loved being a part of this Houston community,” Cole said. “We are incredibly excited to bring Loro the The Heights. It’s a fantastic neighborhood with so much history.”

The building may echo a familiar look, as Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, which designed the Austin location, will also design the Austin sibling, which will occupy a former sanctuary built in the 1940s.
